I've been a bit excited to be involved in (the easy part of) a client's caravan makeover. So far Charlotte and Warwick have stripped out and re-finished every surface of this baby, including all new flooring (love!), new countertops, freshly painted cabinetry in Mint and white, and my part, new upholstery to the wall panels around the beds, seating and mattresses.
Here's a selection of fabrics I suggested when a palette of Mint, grey and white was decided upon...

Oh how I love making old new again, and even more when it goes bold and brave. This magnificent love seat lounge was originally in vinyl (the thin 50's type), which had seen its last days. Bravely reimagined in this stunning custom royal shade for Brianna and Pete, with piping details to match the original design. The inspiration for the colour came from the floral fabric we also made into cushions. Fabulous!!
A clients original lounge armchair with wonderfully elegant arms was originally dressed in a nanna floral, and even had horsehair stuffing in the cushions! Now she has all new foam and new amazing covers in Tango and James "Chevron Stripe" print in Fleur Blue.
This gorgeous original sixties lounge chair with a very covetable arm style was completely refurbished. The timber was completed by the owner, and brand new foam and upholstery by Tango & James. The client chose a new favourite "Molecules" print on faux suede which looks and feels absolutely amazing!! This one is in a super chic nursery, and can be used on the lounge room later! Love it!
And finally, we have these lovelies which were the same style as some seen at our most recent Handmade Market. Client Margaret asked if we can do some in her choice of fabric, and we had some more in storage, so, 'yes we can'! Margaret chose T&J "Tile" print in Navy to work perfectly with her decor at home, and they look so great!!

Some extremely lovely things are happening in the studio to start off another fabulous year at Tango & James. In the same week I acquired 2 armchairs in need of a re-vamp and 2 Primary School teachers in need of fabulous chairs for their classrooms! A match was made and they are now completed in their respective (T&J fave) "Summer Camp" print (By designer Domesticate), and custom picked purple "Hello" print! Super fun!
Then we had a gorgeous re-dressing of modern classic "Lineal" Armchairs. I love these, so it was extra hard to see them go, but when the customer loves them - and chooses to go bold with hot pink, how could I say no?! We added a seat pad with washable covers, which can be swapped between the chairs to mix it up, and we added lurrrrverly faux rabbit fur lumbar cushions for some pretty texture.
And finally, a lovely large lampshade was re-built to a custom size, and I used the customer's supplied Kauffman print linen to cover the piece. Looks amazing even though it's not my usual style - I love how it turned out!
The customer is always right, and I really LOVE my clients who are brave and bold enough to choose something out of the box! It is always smile-making!!
I love what I do!!! Thank you, you magnificent people

This lovely old thing had trashed timber work, grossly stained and worn fabric and was in some ways hard to imagine coming back to life, however it was structurally in great condition.
The owners wanted it to become masculine and contemporary, but keep it's vintage lines. My "points" print in black and white was selected, as was a dark stain.
After plenty of elbow grease, this chair has become an absolute stunner, and will be a special statement piece in their home! Quite a triumph and a great save!

Canberra's Handmade Christmas Market is on this weekend and I can't wait!!
I have been super flat out getting some incredible chairs refurbished in all of my favourite prints. I also have something new: pillow cases for the bedroom... love these for something unique to add a splash of fun to the bedscape - in silky smooth or slinky, minky soft, they are amazing - and super washable, in fun colours and prints for the kiddos and grown-ups alike!
So, alongside 200 plus other amazing hand-makers, I'll be at Handmade Market This weekend, from 10am till 4pm, December 12 & 13 at Exhibition Park In Canberra (EPIC) - and you can find me in the Coorong Pavillion where all the amazing foodies are! See you there!
